Love ..

I've been looking for some inspiration for a few projects I'm working on.. and I fell in love.

DSC_0008

I think this is my very most favorite fabric ever! I instantly fell in love and had to have it.
Now that I have it I want to keep it and cherish it.
But I will not. I'm going to use it .. and go buy MORE!
Here is what I've done so far.

Little baby shoes and a bib.

Here is another view. I think this fabric would be divine for an apron.

AHH. I can't get enough of it. It is so bright and happy.
It is exponentially increasing my spring fever.

Now it is time for me to do something productive today besides sewing. There is a mountain of dishes calling my name, and a dirty floor that is begging to be vacuumed.

What Goes Around .. Comes Back Around

My entire life I've heard how trends cycle in and out of style. Tonight I witnessed this for the first time. It makes me feel really old. When someone talks about a trend "coming back" it is usually - oh, the bellbottoms from the 70's or The skinny jeans from the 80's.

Well how about  - those HORRIBLE shoes from the 00's? YES, they are back!

And with a vengeance might I add. I'm pretty sure I bought these when I was 12 years old for $13.00 from Payless. Now one of my favorite shoe designers, Steve Madden, is trying to charge $59.95 for them!!!!! I want to vomit!

So in order to restore my faith in shoes and Steve, I had to buy a pair. For 70% off might I add. Thank you 6pm.com - I love you!

Not only are they adorable, my size, on sale - it was THE LAST PAIR!

Holla.

Everybody Needs a Friend. (Katie, you can't read this one either.)

Everybody needs a friend. This was my justification tonight to work on a project instead of doing the dishes. In all fairness I made yummy steak stir-fry and chow mein for dinner - so the dishes can wait until tomorrow. :D

Katie, you better not be reading this post either. I'm sorry. I promise that I will make at least one thing for your child and not share it with the world first! But today is not that day.  :)

So here is the second baby bug bib. It is supposed to be a "turtle bug" - not that I even know what that is but I loved the blue fabric. I bought all the fabric for these before any genders were discovered. Now that I know I have a niece on the way I can make little ladybugs or butterflies ..
oh the adorable possibilities are endless. :D

Weekend Update

With Sunday night coming to a close and Monday morning dread on the way
here is my weekend update:

Baking with Beer:
I have been craving beer bread and cheese soup for months now. I finally found some recipes that I liked, so I decided to go for it. I have never baked with beer before, I've used some wine for sauces but this was uncharted territory.

Here is the bread out of the oven. I must say it was pretty delecious. I had never used self-rising flour before. It is heaven made. I had the loaf of bread done from start to finish in less than an hour.

Here is the beer and cheese soup. It tasted like a broccoli cheese soup - but better.
It was delicious!

Projects:
As everyone knows, I know a million people who are pregnant right now. If you are one of them, then stop reading now.

Katie, I mean YOU! Stop reading or you'll spoil one of your baby gifts.

Okay, I guess you don't like surprises.

Its a baby bug bib. Haha. I am in love with it.
Luckily it was easy enough I won't feel bad when the baby spits up all over it.

And now I'm sitting here - folding laundry and watching Snapped. I love Sundays!

New Best Friend

Meet my new best friend:

I know it sounds pathetic, but after scrubbing my floor on my hands and knees for months - I decided to invest in a mop. And I mean invest. Can you believe that Swiffer charges over $20.00 for a mop? I wouldn't have bought it if I didn't get 25% off plus a free box of refill pads ($7.00).

Boy did my floors need it.

Here is the pad after moping the dining room and kitchen. Granted it hadn't been scrubbed in a while. Initially I was thrilled with the results. I've noticed that the is still some residue on the floor after the first mopping so I'll try it a few more times and if that doesn't help then I'll make my own cleaning solution. It would be guaranteed to smell better. The cleaning solution it comes with is pretty rank.

I feel stupid for being so excited about a cleaning product, but I have caught the spring cleaning bug. Today at work I disinfected my entire desk. I love cleaning products - especially the ones that make cleaning easier - hence my new best friend.

Guilty Pleasure

Guilty pleasures are fun. One of my favorite guilty pleasures is Utah County Sheriff jail bookings. I check the website every day! How can you not love pictures like this..

Plus I love being in the loop when people I know get in trouble. (Don't worry, I don't know the gentleman above.)

Some Things Never Change

Some things never change.
I never go to bed on time
I love candy more than I should
I don't do the dishes until I have to

  and ...

I will never grow up. Being a big kid is too much fun. Here is a picture of the current Scalextric track down in my dinning room. Who needs that much room to sit and eat?

I Can't Help It

I can't. I am completely helpless. And you wouldn't be able to help it either.

How can you not love a cat that sits in cardboard boxes all day long? I have no idea what his fascination with it is. We happened upon his obsession by accident. I had thrown a large cardboard box in the corner by our stairs. I was going to disassemble it and save it for moving. Well Punkin fell in love, and the box is still there. I look like a homeless person with three empty cardboard boxes laying around my living room.

How could you not love an adorable animal that sits like this? I have no idea how it is comfortable.

Gargoyle cat! How can you not love gargoyle cat? He has been very lovable lately if you couldn't tell. And now I'm turning into that old lady that is obsessed with her cat because she doesn't have kids. But enjoy it while you can, because once I have kids you know I'll be a mommy blogger. And there is nothing wrong with that. :D

So Disappointed in Myself

Rachael: Oh, I went to the quick care clinic on Tuesday too!
Mary: Who was your doctor?
Rachael: I don't remember. He was an older man.
Mary: Did he have a ponytail?
Rachael: Yeah, thats the one. He was nice.

It took me a few hours to realize that a "ponytail" isn't exactly a normal feature to distinguish a doctor. Don't get me wrong, it was effective - but I am so disappointed in myself.  Idaho has rubbed off on me to the point that I don't even think twice if the professional I'm paying $110 for 15 minuets has longer hair than I do. I'm in need of some serious big city rehab.

Although, the doc did tell me that the insides of my ears look like "mother of pearl" from all the scaring. haha
