New Shoes

When we got home from Utah I felt weird because I didn't have any sewing projects going on. So I designed and made some new baby shoes.

Yeeewtah!

Last week Dan and I drove 12 hours to "true home" ... Utah!
The car ride down was rather pleasent. We brought Punkin
with us and this was his favorite spot in the car ...

Don't mind the mesh - we bought a pet barrier so he didn't climb up in the front seat. He is a big fan of the floorboards - usually the on the drivers side.

We stayed at JoAnn's house for the week. (Dan's Mom) She was so gracious to let us bring our cat to her clean home. He made himself right at home.

This is Punkin playing with Dan.

We spent the week pigging out at our favorite restaurants, spending time with friends and family and enjoying civilization.

Kelly and I hit up our favorite sushi place... Simply Sushi!
I almost forgot how delicious fresh fish is. I'm getting
hungry just thinking about it!

We were able to spend some really good time with our families.
My mom got a new puppy since I last saw them, and his name is Bentley.
My niece, Elle, informed me that his name was Bentley because
"he bends when he pees" haha! She kills me.
I love that little girl so much. I took a few dresses I made for her -
and she did not care for them. I had to bribe her to try them on -
but they looked adorable on her. When we got to my mom's
house they were putting up a new trampoline.
I love trampolines.
I have so many fun memories from playing on them.
Once it was all set up everyone climbed on
(including Dan - I had to use the sad voice a
little bit but he came and joined).
It was so much fun to jump and play.
Later in the week we went to Trafalga with my siblings, niece,
and Dylan (Dan's brother). It was a blast playing lasertag
and running around playing games.

One of the best parts of being in Utah is doing
puzzles with mamma Jo.

Another great part of Utah is Dan's grandparents. We were able to see
them on Saturday right before we we left when we went to Golden Coral for breakfast. Afterward we went to their house and were able to visit with them for sometime.

The ride home was dramatically less pleasant. Probably because
I can never leave without turning into a ball bag, as well
as the traveling indigestion I had
OR
maybe it was the fact that Punkin was a little brat.
We had to sedate him and keep him in the kennel for most of the time.

Overall it was an amazing vacation. It was so nice to see
our family and friends - I haven't seen them in six months.
BUT
it was nice to get home back to our own bed.

Waiting to Break Free

Last week Dan and I went back to Utah to visit some family and celebrate Dan's second semester of law school being over. We had a blast and I'll blog all the details when I've caught up on my sleep.

Until then all you get is pictures of projects that I've had complete for some time, but I haven't posted pictures because they were gifts. Enjoy.

Watermelon outfit for Bella as well.

Zebra pants for Danielle.

Great Day!

Today has turned out to be such a great day. Friday the 13th has always been good luck for me.

Today I was able to put in my two weeks notice at work because I accepted a job in the IT department at the University. This could not have come at a better time.

Today Dan took his last final for law school year one, and he received his writing assignment back... He was one of four students who got an "A"!!! I couldn't be more proud of him.
He has worked so hard.

Today I am cleaning and packing up the cat to come to UTAH!
I cannot wait! I miss all my friends and family so much!

Sew Much

I think that sewing is becoming a form of therapy for me lately.
I've started obsessively sewing projects for my friends and family because I miss them
all so much. If I don't have a project going I feel weird and out of sorts.
It sounds silly but I was thinking about it tonight as I made another dress
 for my niece, Elle.
My "love language" has
always been acts of service.
I think I get this from my mom, its hers as well.

So tonight as I was pinning, basting and hemming I threw myself
a little therapy session. And here are a few
random thoughts that I came up with.

I love my family. I love my family very much, and I miss them.
Because I miss them, I sew for them.

The projects that I make aren't designer, and aren't amazing by any means.
I probably get more out of making them for my family
than they do by using them.

The hum of the sewing machine going fast reminds me of my mom.
My mom hasn't sewn for years, but she did quite a bit when I was little.
Now that sound it permanently linked to memories
of her sitting at the kitchen table making me a new easter dress,
or fixing one of my dance costumes.

Here is what I came up with tonight...
Nothing special, I bought the fabric on sale and didn't have any plans for it.

But the few dollars of fabric and hour of sewing sure saved
me a lot compared to a psychiatrist.

Celebrating a Wonderful Woman

This is a little late, but I'll blame it on the case of stomach flu that took over my last week.
Friday was my mother-in-law's birthday.
The best mother-in-law in the entire world.

If I end up being half the woman she is, I will consider it a very successful life.

Here is the apron I made for her present.
Its nothing special, but I thought it was fun.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAMMA JO!

I LOVE YOU!
